Child And Adolescent Mental Health (CAMH)
The child and adolescent psychiatrist is a physician who specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of thought, feeling, and/or behaviour in children, adolescents, and young adults, using a knowledge of biological, psychological, and social factors.
The following steps are taken during the treatment process:

-
A comprehensive diagnostic examination is performed initially, with attention to physical, genetic, developmental, emotional, cognitive, educational, family, peer, and social components of the current problem.
-
The child and adolescent psychiatrist arrives at a diagnosis and diagnostic formulation.
-
The diagnosis and diagnostic formulation are shared with the patient and their family.
-
The child and adolescent psychiatrist designs a treatment plan.
-
The treatment plan is discussed with the child or adolescent and their family.
